“SUNDAY RUNNER” JUST DROPPED
Hello Friends!
We here at Corvair Command Center are so excited to announce that the first single from our upcoming album comes out today!
It’s called “Sunday Runner.”
We recorded most of this album during the COVID shutdown in the spring, after we tried cooking a bunch of new stuff, and doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching 18 different movies about colonizing Mars until unforeseen trouble ensues. Ultimately, we decided that making a record was the best way to deal with being stuck in the house, slathered in hand sanitizer.
“Sunday Runner” is about a first date that gets very complicated very fast. And then it’s also literally about running. As in, jogging around Lake Union every Sunday. But the metaphor also holds. The drums were tracked in Seattle at a super secret studio with Engineer Martin Feveyear and drummer Eric Eagle. At that point, we really wanted to call the band Bad Pony, until we found out there was another band called Bad Pony, which is proof that whatever weird thought you have, someone else has already had it first. The rest of the song was recorded in our home studio, over many many nights and many many candles. (Has anyone else become obsessed with candles?)
The song and video were debuted today on Northern Transmissions. (Thanks Northern Transmissions!) Go check it out here.
The lyric video is very fresh—in fact, it was concepted, performed and shot last Sunday November 8th in Oceanside, Oregon, which is a place that combines vibes of The Goonies and a Stephen King novel about killer pirate ghosts. Which is to say, we really love it there.
Fun fact: The video was shot by Brian in one continuous 78-second take. We then strung it out in slow motion for the duration of the video. There are no cuts, and none of the falls were planned or intentional; they just happened to coincide perfectly with the transitions in the song. Which is incredibly weird, almost eerie.
Lastly, our debut record comes out Feb 19th on Paper Walls Records (US) and Where It’s At Is Where You Are Records (UK), including a snazzy pressing in clear vinyl.
And stay tuned for a full video for “Sailor Down” on Dec 5th—that’s Band Camp Friday!
We hope you are all safe and well.
We would be honored if you would purchase our single here!
